“What celebs wear… does it matter to you?!”

What most celebrities wear almost always looks good! So, do most of us choose eyewear based on what we like, and what fits us, or do we simply pick them up based on what our favourite star is wearing? We posed this question to readers. This is what they said…

“I do follow the trends of my favourite celebrities. I love Nicole Richie’s style because it’s chic and relaxed. It’s hard to narrow her style down to a few words. Sometimes she’ll go bohemian, at other times totally glam, and sometimes she’ll just throw on a black dress and flats. She wears a lot of patterns, which I love, and always manages to look amazing. I definitely love the sunglasses she wears — oversized and timeless. Her own ‘House of Harlow’ collection is amazing. It’s very old Hollywood.”

Sima Samimi, Office Manager, APCO Worldwide

“Yes, I do follow celebrities when it comes to eyewear fashion as they wear the trendiest styles. They are also the most daring when it comes to showcasing new designs and brands. I do look at what’s ‘in’ based on what most famous personalities wear, especially those who are very fashionable. I find these celebrities and their styles gutsy, and love that they are willing to try out new designs. They help me know what is trending and I follow a trend only if I really like it. Sunglasses or spectacles give us a distinct style and affect the look we are going for. In my opinion, nerdy-chic is the way to go with spectacles, while big and round should be your style for sunglasses.”

“I do not prefer a particular style from any celebrity for eyewear. As long as it fits me comfortably and protects my eyes, I will wear it. But I prefer the classic style of sunglasses, as it is timeless and fits any season’s trends.”

Robin Young, HR Business Partner, Worley Parsons

“Personally, I find today’s celebrity culture to be very superficial, crass and, in some cases, harmful to society. This is evident from the cases of younger people who struggle with self-image issues and seek to emulate their so-called ‘idols’ with respect to body shape and image — at times to their detriment. Eyewear for me is something that, first and foremost, should be practical and durable in nature with a little bit of style. It has never really crossed my mind to take any interest in the kind of eyewear a celebrity is wearing.”

Louay Al-Samarrai Owner and Managing Partner, Active PR

“I like to choose sunglasses based on how they suit the shape of my face. I love my current pair of sunglasses, which are from Louis Vuitton.”
