The designs in this collection are inspired by the African Savanna and its textures; particularly those known to the fashion world – animal prints
The collection includes textures that reproduce the colour of wood, zebra hair, giraffe skin and horns. The acetates for the entire collection are designed by Etnia Barcelona and manufactured by Mazzuccheli, in Milan. Created with natural acetate using natural organic compounds like cotton and cellulose paste, the frames are 100 per cent eco-friendly – recyclable and biodegradable.
The frames of the collection sport mineral lenses by the Italian manufacturer – Barberini. These lenses are natural mineral glass lenses that provide 70x better vision than normal lenses. They are impact resistant, and possess anti-scratch and anti-static electricity treatment. The polarized lenses are resistant to temperatures over 400°C, and offer maximum UV protection.
The Africa 01 model features vintage inspired circular lenses with a ‘cat-eye’ finish, making it one of their most feminine models in the collection. The Africa 02 model on the other hand sports a giraffe skin texture, with clean lines and smooth contours to give these men’s sunglasses a more elegant and subtle experience.
The ‘Wild Love in Africa’ collection collaborates with the NGO – Africa Rising foundation, donating 2 per cent of global sales, contributing to the work of the organisation. Africa Rising is a non-profit organization, founded by Ndaba and Kweku Madela in 2009, in order to contribute to the development of the African continent, in the memory of Nelson Mandela.
