The gothic girl is the unique romantic creature of the night. She’s the rebel who’s dark and fabulous. She could be you!
When we think of Gothic in makeup, it is interpreted as black eye shadows, excess eyeliners and black lipsticks. While all of this is definitely true, Gothic fashion has come a long way from the Edwardian era. Gothic is not merely ‘black fashion’ now – it is a state of mind that can be embodied in unique and beautiful ways. The purpose is to channel your inner dark side and bring out your best gothic features.
Vampy, bold and definitely sultry, many fashion-forward celebrities have proved that this look is both wearable and flattering. Kristen Stewart, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Keira Knightley, Jennifer Lawrence, the Olsen twins, Nicole Richie, Angelina Jolie, Charlize Theron and Kim Kardashian have all flaunted their enigmatic side.
GOTHIC GLAM, RIGHT THERE!
Try different dimensions from the following styles (or a combination) to give the look a more dramatic twist.
Eyebrows
While the hardcore Goths remove their brows completely, we have a less drastic solution.
Recreate the Goth look by shaping your brows upwards in an arch. Add a slick of Maybelline Define-A- Lash Lengthening Very Black mascara and some spray on the brows to create the sticky look.
Cat-eye look
Select a dark MAC shadow shade such as black or deep navy and pat that on top of your already dark liner. The brooding cat eye makeup with a gothic twist makes it an ultra glamorous affair!
Pop eyes
Apply a silvery-white shade from the Chanel’s Premier Regard to the inner corner of the eye. For the lower inner lid, use a Revlon stark white pencil. The open eye helps the dark shadow to really stand out.
Shimmery Eyes
Add little silver or icy blue sparkle right under your brows and the inner corner of the eyes to add a soft and bright touch.
Colours
Besides black, other shades also work well with your pale skin. Try burgundy, deep emerald, eggplant, indigo and even red by the Body Shop, MAC or Estee Lauder. Apply any of these shades to your upper lids in more than two coats until the colour is deep and blended.
Also, the newest trend is the soft gothic look. The softness – natural eye shadows, nude lipstick and little blush – and the natural look has its own place in the Goth scene.
Gothic make-up designs are very artistic, dreamy and intriguing. And remember, gothic makeup is not just a style; it’s an attitude.
