Moorfields Eye Hospital Dubai appoints Consultant Ophthalmologist with a special interest in Cornea and Refractive Surgery

The hospital has announced the appointment of Dr. Marcus Ang as Consultant Ophthalmologist with a special interest in Cornea, Refractive and Cataract surgical treatment options

The newest addition to the Moorfields Eye Hospital Dubai, Dr. Ang has completed his specialist advanced Ophthalmology training at the Singapore National Eye Centre and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh. His appointments include Assistant Professor, Duke-National University of Singapore; Adjunct Research Fellow, Singapore Eye Research Institute; and Clinical Lecturer, National University of Singapore. Dr. Ang is currently an Honorary Consultant at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London and is appointed as Consultant Ophtalmologist with interests in Cornea, Refractive and Cataract surgical treatment.

In addition to his clinical experience, Dr. Ang has undertaken substantial grant-supported research work and numerous international peer-reviewed publications, in addition to his extensive teaching and presentations at international conferences. Among his international awards and honours, Dr. Ang was the recipient of the International Excellence In Ophthalmology Award in 2014. He has also undertaken voluntary Ophthalmology work in the community, leading volunteer missions to Asia and beyond as Director of Vision Projects

Commenting on the new appointment, Mr. Mariano Gonzalez, Managing Director of Moorfields Eye Hospital, said: “Dr. Ang brings outstanding clinical experience and surgical expertise to the hospital and will help us improve care for our patients across the UAE in several important areas, such as in the treatment of cataract. His previous experience with Moorfields London, where he is an Honorary Consultant, is an added bonus for us.”
