Mylon Sun: The Miami Sci-fi Fest, Mykita’s Latest Charm!

Mykita’s Mylon Sun Collection blurs the border between fashion and sports. State-of-the-art design coupled with a high-tech material. Individual adjustability, light weight

Miami Sci-Fi Fest:

Two futuristic sun shields with fresh neon contouring join the Hybrid range. Playing the central role is a small, multi-functional Mylon part that showcases Mykita’s expertise in combining handcraft and high-tech. Primarily a nose piece, it also holds the lens in place, gives the frame tension and delivers the distinctive Hybrid aesthetic as a styling element. A rounded bottom profile gives Aloe a refined fashion look, while the expansive front on Yarrow makes a strong statement.

About Mykita Mylon:

Mykita Mylon isn’t just a new brand, it’s a completely new way of making eyeglasses. Marking the first evolution in plastic eyewear manufacturing in over five decades, Mykita Mylon is made with a 3D printing technology called Selective Laser Sintering (SLS). The process involves a CO² laser fusing ultra-fine polyamide powder layer by layer to build the eyeglasses in three-dimensions. The result is a material that is one-third of the weight and more than ten times stronger than traditional eyewear materials. MYLON also looks like nothing else that came before it – textural and matted, the material is deeply saturated in rich colors using dying techniques inspired by the garment industry.

3D printing has also made it possible for Mykita to design a range of Mylon styles that aren’t limited by the typical restraints of eyewear manufacturing, resulting in elegant, dimensional styles that play with the ideas of proportion and tradition. From fresh, reductive takes on classic and retro eyeglasses, to lightweight sunglasses inspired by nineteen-forties aviators and nineteen-seventies ski goggles, to chic shields that look to the future, the Mykita Mylon collection melds form and function, tradition and innovation, simplicity and luxury.

About Mykita:

The company was founded by Moritz Krueger, Philipp Haffmans, Daniel Haffmans and Harald Gottschling in 2003. All of its products are hand-assembled in their manufactory in Berlin. In 2014 MYKITA moved to the current headquarters in the historical Pelikan-Haus in Berlin, Kreuzberg. The name MYKITA is derived from ‘Kita’ (a common abbreviation for Kindertagesstätte) and is a reference to the firm’s first premises in a former day nursery. MYKITA has its own stores in cities such as New York, Berlin, Paris, Monterrey (Mexico), Vienna, Zurich, Cartagena de Indias and Tokyo, and its products are sold in over 60 countries.
